About the Role

As the Dir-Rooms-B at Sheraton, you will function as the strategic business leader for the property's Rooms department. This full-time position involves planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the quality of the property’s rooms. You will work with direct reports to develop and implement departmental strategies, ensuring the execution of brand service strategy and initiatives. The role requires 2-5 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Rooms team by championing the brand’s service vision and communicating departmental goals effectively.
  • Monitor and promote room rates, specials, and promotions.
  • Manage profitability by analyzing service issues, identifying trends, and developing operational strategies aligned with the brand’s business goals.
  • Review and audit expenses to ensure financial performance.
  • Achieve revenue goals by monitoring sales performance against budget and coaching the operations team on occupancy, rate, wages, and controllable expenses.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service by demonstrating key drivers of guest satisfaction, reviewing feedback, and coordinating event details.
  • Respond to and resolve guest problems and complaints, continuously working to improve service based on feedback.
  • Manage human resources activities including interviewing, hiring, and ensuring fair and equitable treatment of employees.
  • Foster employee commitment to service excellence, conduct performance appraisals, and support employee growth and development.

Departmental Leadership and Strategy

This role ensures Rooms operations meet brand standards, target customer needs, and employee satisfaction, while focusing on revenue growth and maximizing financial performance. You will develop and implement property-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed customer and employee expectations, providing a return on investment to the owner and company.

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor Rooms operations sales performance against budget and review financial statements.
  • Coach and support the operations team to effectively manage occupancy, rate, wages, and controllable expenses.
  • Compare budgeted wages to actual wages, addressing problem areas and holding the team accountable for results.
  • Ensure regular, ongoing communication within the Rooms department, including pre-shift briefings and staff meetings.

Employee Relations and Development

  • Set goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and hold staff accountable for successful performance.
  • Solicit employee feedback, utilize an open-door policy, and review employee satisfaction results to identify and address concerns.
  • Ensure property policies are administered fairly and consistently, and disciplinary procedures are completed according to SOPs and LSOPs.
  • Identify talents of direct reports and their teams, assisting with their growth and development plans.
