Electrical Technician

About the Role

Acwa China is seeking an Electrical Technician to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves executing various maintenance activities on plant equipment under the direction of an Electrical Supervisor or Engineer, with a strong emphasis on safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all duties are performed safely, efficiently, and effectively, complying with NOMAC safety rules and regulations.
• Execute all preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance activities, including annual outage and overhauling work, adhering strictly to maintenance procedures and work instructions.
• Document maintenance concerns and history for equipment.
• Report spare parts and consumables requirements to the Electrical Supervisor/Engineer and update spare availability.
• Ensure proper isolations are carried out before commencing maintenance activities, in coordination with the Electrical Supervisor and local operator.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and perform maintenance on equipment within jurisdiction.
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and protection drawings relevant to plant equipment.
• Install, adjust, inspect, service, and repair various static and rotating electrical equipment in power and desalination plants.
• Carry out all necessary preparations for electrical maintenance to assigned equipment/areas.
• Understand working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems.
• Perform 5S housekeeping in the work area.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Skilled Electrical Labor in NOMAC plants. A Bachelor of Engineering is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a similar position, or 4 years as a Skilled Electrical Labor in NOMAC plants. Extensive experience as an Electrical Technician in Conventional, Combined Cycle, Cogeneration, Water Desalination Plants (RO, MSF, MED), or Renewable Energy plants (Solar, Wind Mills) is preferred. The role requires 5-10 years of overall experience.

Required Skills

• Generic awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environment Management system principles.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, completing objectives efficiently and responsibly.
• Capability to work in non-ideal environments such as confined spaces, at heights, and around chemicals.
• Understanding, practicing, and enforcing safe work practices related to respiratory protection, elevated work platforms, fall protection, control of hazardous energy (Lockout/Tag-out), fire protection systems, electrical safety, confined space entry, and PPE.
• Knowledge of waste identification, classification, and disposal.
• Knowledge of environmental and health impacts of chemicals used in the plant.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment and First Aid measures.
• Basic knowledge of Power/Water plant operational activities.
• Basic computer skills.

Desired Certifications and Training

• Awareness or working knowledge of ISO9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 is preferred.

Work Environment

The successful candidate must be prepared to work in a remote location.
