About the Role

Sheraton is seeking an Engineering Technician - Plumber to join their team. This full-time role involves responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the proper functioning of various building systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will have 0-1 years of experience and a foundational understanding of general maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to and address guest repair requests promptly, communicating effectively to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines for proper function and identify issues.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for buildings.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs.
  • Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement, and thorough cleanup of work areas.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on various equipment, including plumbing (*, plunging toilets, unclogging drains), electrical components, and guestroom items.
  • Program TVs and assist with general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
  • Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping, including external sprinklers.

Safety and Operational Compliance

  • Adhere to all company, safety, and security policies and procedures.
  • Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Complete required safety training and certifications.
  • Properly store flammable materials.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and uniform.
  • Protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

Guest and Team Interaction

  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards, anticipating and addressing service needs.
  • Assist individuals with disabilities and express genuine appreciation to guests.
  • Adhere to quality expectations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supporting team goals.

Physical Requirements and Skills

  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier objects with assistance.
  • Capability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders.
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules and making temperature changes.
  • Basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in areas such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and energy conservation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or ** equivalent.
  • Related Work Experience: Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting is preferred. Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus.
  • Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this role.
