Estimating Specialist

About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking an Estimating Specialist to join the Estimating Services Division within the Project Management Office Department (PMOD) of the Engineering Services Organization. This full-time role involves supporting the development and preparation of accurate, reliable, and consistent cost estimates for capital projects.

Role Context and Purpose

The Estimating Services Division is responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure cost estimates align with project scope, schedule, and contractual requirements, adhering to internal guidelines and relevant standards. The Estimating Specialist will prepare estimates for probable costs of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects, based on contract bids, quotations, drawings, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and validate cost estimates at various project stages (conceptual, preliminary, detailed design), ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
• Utilize historical data, vendor quotations, and engineering inputs to develop estimates with defined accuracy levels (*, Class 4 to Class 1 estimates).
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to understand and interpret project scope and deliverables.
• Identify specialty items such as licensed equipment, DCS systems, and exotic materials, ensuring their appropriate inclusion in estimates.
• Liaise with execution agencies to secure quotations for equipment and bulk materials, adhering to minimum quotation requirements based on project value.
• Validate in-house pricing data or adjust based on current market conditions.
• Ensure the Estimate Package includes all required documentation, including scoping documents, conceptual drawings, MTOs, vendor quotations, and risk registers.
• Participate in reviews and approvals at various project gates (*, Gate 1, Gate 2).
• Identify cost risks and propose appropriate contingency levels based on project complexity and scope definition.
• Ensure all estimates adhere to the Saudi Aramco Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and other internal standards.
• Generate cost reports to track budget performance and forecast final execution costs.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating roles.

Additional Responsibilities

• Review and spot-check material take-offs against IFB drawings.
• Review project specifications, execution strategy, and site conditions.
• Calculate construction costs based on total direct and indirect man-hours and all-in rates.
• Determine material costs based on vendor quotations and benchmark against internal and external data.
