Fire Fighting & Plumbing Engineer

About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a Fire Fighting & Plumbing Engineer. This regular position involves the design review, site supervision, inspection, testing, commissioning, and delivery of fire protection and plumbing systems across various building and infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all Fire Fighting and Plumbing works comply with project specifications, approved drawings, local authority regulations, international standards, and health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Ensure the successful delivery of high-quality and compliant mechanical systems, including fire suppression networks, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, water supply networks, drainage systems, sewage treatment interfaces, and plumbing infrastructure.
• Review Fire Fighting and Plumbing designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings for compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and utility providers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
• Review shop drawings, technical submittals, material approvals, and method statements.
• Identify design conflicts and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Support value engineering initiatives and design optimization efforts.

Project Execution and Compliance

• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, authorities, and project stakeholders.
• Participate in technical meetings, progress reviews, and coordination workshops.
• Respond to RFIs and site technical queries.
• Provide engineering recommendations and technical support during project execution.
• Assist project management teams in resolving technical and construction-related issues.
• Review and maintain project documentation, including inspection records, technical reports, as-built drawings, and testing records.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, local authority requirements, and regulatory approvals.
• Monitor implementation of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Support authority inspections and approval processes.
• Assist in preparation of final handover documentation.

Site Supervision and Quality Assurance

• Inspect installation works related to fire protection and plumbing systems to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
• Monitor contractor performance and construction progress.
• Verify material installations and workmanship quality.
• Conduct routine site inspections and prepare inspection reports and non-conformance reports where required.
• Ensure construction activities meet project quality standards and schedule requirements.

Health, Safety, and Continuous Improvement

• Promote and enforce compliance with project HSE requirements.
• Monitor safe installation and testing practices on site.
• Ensure adherence to quality management systems and project procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and best engineering practices.
• Maintain AtkinsRéalis standards for safety, quality, and technical excellence.
