Role Summary

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the professional and cost-effective operation of the Housekeeping department. This role ensures high standards of cleanliness are maintained across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas within the hotel. This is a full-time position requiring 0-1 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the cleaning of guest rooms and public areas, ensuring cleanliness and guest comfort meet Hotel and Brand standards through thorough inspection.
  • Plan, organize, and maintain accurate records of all additional cleaning to ensure maximum cleanliness and logical work patterns.
  • Monitor and maintain room cleaning productivity at the level set by the General Manager.
  • Manage the efficient operation of the laundry and ensure cost-effective use of all linen, conducting regular inventory and investigating stock losses.
  • Handle guest laundry and lost property in accordance with Hotel Policy.
  • Liaise with Front Office and Maintenance regarding room readiness, with particular attention to guest's special requirements and VIP rooms.
  • Ensure the security of keys, storerooms, and guest bedrooms.
  • Coordinate with the General Manager for deep cleaning duties by outside contractors, verifying work quality against service contracts.
  • Ensure corridors and back-of-house areas are cleaned to hotel policy standards.
  • Prepare weekly staffing schedules, monitor staff attendance, and manage labor planning to align with hotel activity and maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all stocks, guest supplies, and linens to prevent pilferage or loss.
  • Build, develop, and drive Housekeeping ambassadors to achieve hotel deliverables, ensuring high team engagement through recruitment, training, development plans, feedback, and engagement strategies.
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, ensure clear, concise, and respectful departmental communication and align departmental performance with hotel strategic goals.
  • Contribute to forming and executing the hotel’s strategic plan with the General Manager and Senior Leadership team, including high-level assistance during emergency situations and adherence to Emergency Communications procedures.
  • Provide required month-end reports and data for the General Manager and Finance.
  • Ensure proper recording and stock control of hotel room mini-bars in line with Sofitel policies and procedures.
  • Account for the proper usage of all equipment and their periodical servicing to ensure efficient working conditions.
  • Facilitate smooth departmental operations through adequate purchase and supply of material and equipment.
  • Adhere to the department budget through the purchase order system and inventory controls.
  • Implement training programs for ambassadors, including induction and skills training.
  • Ensure department policies and procedures are understood and observed by all ambassadors.
  • Handle and resolve all guest complaints, establishing amicable relations and attending to guest needs and comforts.
  • Recommend operational improvements, particularly in developing service standards, increasing revenue, and reducing costs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous Housekeeping management experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Experience in the luxury market, with previous 5-star hotel experience, is essential.
  • Strong operational background with experience in implementing and managing brand standards.
  • Experience in coaching and developing a professional management team.
  • Sound knowledge of Opera and Microsoft applications.
  • Proven experience with cost control, including payroll, expenses, and forecasting.

Required Skills

  • Well-groomed and articulate in communication.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to work autonomously.
