About the Role

Wood is seeking an Inplant Principal Piping Layout Engineering Design SME to serve as a Technical Authority. This full-time position is based in Saudi Arabia and involves providing technical leadership across a portfolio of energy, oil & gas, mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from proposals and concept studies to FEED, detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning. This role acts as the highest level of technical authority within the discipline, providing specialist expertise, ensuring engineering excellence, strengthening technical governance, and supporting the delivery of safe, innovative, and high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead 3D plant layout and piping arrangement for complex industrial facilities.
• Act as the Technical Authority across multiple projects.
• Lead technical reviews during Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
• Perform independent design assurance and peer reviews.
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and provide specialist guidance.
• Support proposals, client workshops, and business development activities.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to the development of technical capability within teams.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards and best practices.

Additional Contributions

Beyond project support, the SME will mentor engineering teams, establish and maintain technical standards, support business development, contribute to technical assurance, and build trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders across the region.

Qualifications and Experience

• A recognized industry expert in Piping Layout Engineering Design.
• A proven track record of over 10 years of experience in solving complex engineering challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to influence clients and mentor engineering teams.
• Experience in driving technical excellence across major international projects.
