Operations Manager at Acwa

Acwa is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and manage the plant operating functions of a CCGT power plant in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role focuses on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations in accordance with established procedures, contractual requirements, and performance objectives.

Role Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for comprehensive operational planning, workforce management, and overall plant performance. Key aspects include ensuring compliance with HSE and IMS standards, emergency preparedness, and driving continuous improvement across all operating activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all plant operations, including normal operation, start-up, shutdown, planned outages, and emergency activities, prioritizing personnel, equipment, and environmental safety.
• Ensure efficient plant operation, achieve production schedules, meet operational and performance standards, and maintain effective operational reporting.
• Participate in technical decisions related to plant design, specifications, operating methods, modifications, and improvements, recommending procedural and schedule changes as needed.
• Manage operating resources, including workforce allocation, competency development, performance evaluation, training, and on-the-job development to enhance operational effectiveness.
• Prepare and monitor the plant operating budget and cost control activities, conducting regular operational meetings to review progress, priorities, issues, and required actions.
• Ensure effective implementation of IMS, HSE, environmental, legal, PTW, waste management, PPE, hazard risk assessment, and environmental aspect-impact requirements within the area of responsibility.
• Lead investigations of incidents, non-conformances, deviations, and operational issues, ensuring root cause analysis and the implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor contractors and subcontractors, support emergency preparedness and mock drills, report IMS and operational performance to management, and drive the achievement of plant objectives and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant operational leadership role.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex plant operations and lead a diverse workforce.
• Strong understanding of HSE, IMS, and environmental compliance standards.

Work Environment

This is a site-based role located at a remote power plant in Saudi Arabia.
