About the Piping Supervisor Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Piping Supervisor for the Ar Rjum Project in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves overseeing and organizing subcontractor activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of piping construction.

Project Context

The Ar Rjum Project is a greenfield gold project situated in the Central Arabian Gold Region. The Piping Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring that operations align with established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely, contributing to the overall success of this complex project involving multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities.
  • Coordinate and instruct subcontractor management staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Support mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders.
  • Monitor subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Review subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Coordinate construction operations to ensure alignment with overall established schedules.
  • Monitor material and equipment installation for conformance with drawings, specifications, and other requirements.
  • Enforce established field construction management policies, procedures, and work rules.
  • Support Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting technical documents.
  • Coordinate engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.
  • Liaise with Design on constructability issues.

Piping Construction Oversight

  • Lead and supervise piping construction activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of fit-up, installation, welding, NDE, hydrotesting, flushing, reinstatement, punch closure, and system completion.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and lined piping systems, including installation, inspection, testing, preservation, and commissioning.
  • Drive piping construction using Work Packaging principles, planning work by systems and test boundaries, and managing constraints and work-front availability.
  • Lead and coordinate piping craft professionals, foremen, general foremen, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives and schedule milestones.
  • Monitor and improve productivity by managing weld performance, spool readiness, material availability, installation quality, and field execution efficiency.
  • Ensure all piping works comply with approved engineering drawings, specifications, piping class requirements, applicable codes and standards, project procedures, and client requirements.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, vendor documentation, isometrics, P&IDs, plot plans, and other technical documents, resolving field-related technical issues.
  • Coordinate with Construction Field Engineers, Quality, Safety, Project Controls, Procurement, and Commissioning teams.
  • Interface with structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning disciplines to eliminate conflicts and optimize work fronts.
  • Coordinate heavy lifting, rigging, and installation activities for large-bore piping and prefabricated spools.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor short-term construction plans, including 3-week look-ahead schedules and manpower forecasts.
  • Ensure implementation of Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) requirements and Safety Management Plans.
  • Oversee the planning and utilization of construction tools, welding equipment, testing equipment, consumables, and temporary facilities.
  • Conduct regular field inspections to monitor work progress, safety compliance, quality standards, and productivity.
  • Interface with engineering, procurement, client representatives, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to resolve construction challenges.
  • Support project reporting requirements through accurate tracking of piping progress, weld status, testing completion, and manpower utilization.

Qualifications and Experience

Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. The role requires the ability to perform extensive field inspections, including walking long distances, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces. Candidates must be capable of using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and working in hot and humid climatic conditions.
