About the Piping Supervisor Role
Bechtel Corporation is seeking a Piping Supervisor for the night shift on the Ar Rjum Project. This full-time position involves overseeing and organizing subcontractor activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of piping construction on a complex greenfield gold project. The project is located approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and includes mining operations, a processing plant, and supporting infrastructure.
Project and Role Context
The Ar Rjum Project is a significant undertaking requiring meticulous planning and execution across multiple disciplines. As a Piping Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all piping operations are planned to align with the overall project schedule and that work methods are performed safely and in accordance with project specifications. You will be instrumental in coordinating various stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities.
- Coordinate subcontractor management staff through instruction and oversight.
- Monitor subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Review subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment needs.
- Coordinate construction operations to ensure alignment with overall established schedules and minimize impact on external interfaces.
- Monitor the installation of materials and equipment to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, and other requirements.
- Enforce established field construction management policies, procedures, and work rules.
- Support Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting engineering and vendor documents.
- Coordinate engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinate with Design on constructability issues.
- Lead and supervise piping construction activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
- Drive piping construction utilizing Work Packaging principles.
- Lead and coordinate piping craft professionals, foremen, general foremen, and subcontractors.
- Monitor and improve productivity by managing weld performance, spool readiness, material availability, installation quality, and field execution efficiency.
- Ensure all piping works comply with approved engineering drawings, specifications, applicable codes and standards, project procedures, and client requirements.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, vendor documentation, isometrics, P&IDs, plot plans, and other technical documents.
- Coordinate with Construction Field Engineers, Quality, Safety, Project Controls, Procurement, and Commissioning teams.
- Interface and integrate with structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning disciplines.
- Coordinate heavy lifting, rigging, and installation activities for large-bore piping and prefabricated spools.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor short-term construction plans, including 3-week look-ahead schedules, manpower forecasts, resource planning, and construction priorities.
- Ensure implementation of Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) requirements, Safety Management Plans, Permit-to-Work systems, and company construction procedures.
- Oversee the planning and utilization of construction tools, welding equipment, testing equipment, consumables, and temporary facilities.
- Conduct regular field inspections to monitor work progress, safety compliance, quality standards, productivity, and system completion status.
- Interface with engineering, procurement, client representatives, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to resolve construction challenges.
- Support project reporting requirements through accurate tracking of piping progress, weld status, testing completion, manpower utilization, equipment utilization, and field issues.
Qualifications and Experience
This role requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. A strong knowledge of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and lined piping systems is essential. The ability to work in hot and humid climatic conditions typical of Middle East construction projects is also required.
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) or equivalent work experience.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in piping construction supervision.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and lined piping systems.
Required Skills and Capabilities
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, vendor documentation, isometrics, P&IDs, and plot plans.
- Experience in coordinating with various disciplines including structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Capability to develop and monitor short-term construction plans and manpower forecasts.
- Ability to perform extensive field inspections, including walking long distances, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces.
- Must be capable of using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Work Environment and Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring night shift work on the Ar Rjum Project. The work environment involves active construction site conditions, including exposure to heat and humidity. Candidates must be prepared for physically demanding tasks associated with field inspections and site work.
