About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a qualified Rail Transport Planner - Metro Experience to join its Transport Planning and Strategic Advisory Business Unit in the Middle East. This full-time position requires a professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field, including specific exposure to metro projects.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will contribute to various transport planning studies, working on both public and private sector projects. The role involves applying expertise in transport planning, traffic engineering, and travel demand theory to support large-scale master plan assessments, traffic impact studies, and multi-disciplinary planning initiatives. The position requires the ability to work with limited supervision and quickly acquire new skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to diverse transport planning studies, including large-scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies, and multi-disciplinary planning projects.
• Apply knowledge of transport planning, traffic engineering, and travel demand theory.
• Utilize experience in public transport networks and familiarity with international transport planning standards and practices.
• Demonstrate a practical understanding of transport planning's role in development access and citywide mobility plans.
• Undertake junction analysis to support traffic impact assessments.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis, and parking assessments.
• Communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
• Learn and retain new skills quickly from various sources.
• Work with limited supervision.
• Possess some experience in project and financial management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in traffic engineering, transport planning, or traffic modelling.
• Minimum of 10 years of overall experience in transport planning.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in traffic engineering and transport planning with Operations and Maintenance railway project exposure.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic engineering, transport planning, and traffic modelling.
• Knowledge of International Public Transport Planning standards and procedures.
• Experience working within a team environment.
• Experience in the Middle East is preferred.

Work Environment

This role is based in the Middle East and involves working as part of a dedicated team within the Transport Planning and Strategic Advisory Business Unit. The position is full-time, and the salary will be disclosed during the recruitment process.
