Senior ASU Commissioning & Start up Engineer

About the Role

Eram Talent is collaborating with a leading Oil & Gas organization in Saudi Arabia to recruit a Senior ASU Commissioning & Start-up Engineer. This full-time position is based in Tanajib / Khursaniyah and requires a subject matter expert with extensive experience in Air Separation Units (ASU). The role focuses on the design, optimization, and safe operation of complex cryogenic air separation processes.

Role Overview

The Senior ASU Commissioning & Start-up Engineer will be responsible for ensuring peak production and stringent safety compliance within high-purity oxygen environments. This involves providing technical leadership and expertise across various stages of ASU operations, from asset specification to troubleshooting and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the specification and sizing of critical ASU assets, including high-pressure air compressors, air adsorption and dehydration systems, turboexpanders, Brazed Aluminum Heat Exchangers (BAHX), and cryogenic distillation columns.
• Oversee liquid oxygen and nitrogen storage and vaporization systems to ensure reliable peak production and backup supply.
• Provide hands-on leadership during cryogenic ASU commissioning, start-ups, and performance guarantee testing.
• Act as the primary technical authority for troubleshooting complex operational issues and optimizing Molecular Sieve Adsorption Systems (pre-purification units) for maximum moisture removal and regeneration cycle efficiency.
• Utilize advanced proficiency in Aspen HYSYS or PRO/II, specifically for calibrating process simulations for cryogenic air separation cycles and validating models against real-world plant data.
• Apply deep practical knowledge of Compressed Gases and Cryogenic Fluids Codes. Champion safety standards regarding oxygen compatibility and fire hazard management within high-purity oxygen environments.

Qualifications and Experience

• Over 10 years of dedicated hands-on experience in Air Separation Units (ASU).
• Demonstrated expertise in the design, optimization, and safe operation of complex cryogenic air separation processes.
• Advanced proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS or PRO/II.
• Strong understanding of Compressed Gases and Cryogenic Fluids Codes.
• Proven ability to manage safety standards related to oxygen compatibility and fire hazards.
