About the Role

Boskalis is seeking a Senior Marine Pilot to provide safe, efficient, and professional pilotage services. This full-time position involves overseeing vessel movements within JCPDI Port, Saudi Aramco facilities, and Single Point Mooring (SPM) locations, ensuring all operations adhere to applicable regulations, Harbour Master Instructions, international best practices, and company safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting safe and efficient pilotage operations for vessels during arrival, departure, shifting, berthing, and unberthing within port limits, associated facilities, and offshore SPM locations.
• Providing professional navigational advice to vessel Masters and bridge teams to ensure safe vessel movements.
• Assessing environmental conditions such as weather, sea state, tides, currents, traffic, and navigational hazards to inform pilotage decisions.
• Developing and communicating pilotage and berthing plans with relevant stakeholders, including vessel Masters, tug Masters, mooring teams, VTS, and terminal representatives.
• Directing tug usage and mooring arrangements during vessel movements.
• Maintaining effective communication and coordination with VTS, port authorities, terminal operators, and vessel bridge teams.
• Ensuring strict compliance with Harbour Master Instructions, port regulations, company procedures, and all applicable maritime regulations.
• Maintaining accurate pilotage records, reports, and documentation.
• Participating in incident investigations, safety meetings, emergency response exercises, and operational reviews, supporting HSE initiatives.
• Contributing to the mentoring and development of junior pilots and continuous improvement in marine safety and operational efficiency.
• Participating in a 24/7 operational roster and being available for pilotage duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master Mariner Class 1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency.
• Valid medical fitness certification.
• Completion of IMO Resolution ** Pilot Training or an equivalent recognized program.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Marine Pilot, encompassing harbour, tanker, offshore, and SPM pilotage operations. Experience within major commercial ports, industrial ports, or oil and gas terminals is preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of ship handling, tug operations, bridge resource management, pilotage best practices, and modern navigation systems including ECDIS, radar, and pilotage equipment.
• Proficiency in English is essential.
• Training or certification in Bridge Resource Management (BRM) and Human Factors.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, situational awareness, and risk assessment skills.
• Previous experience in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia is advantageous.
• Exposure to VTS operations, port management systems, container terminal operations, and bulk cargo operations is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Arabic is considered a plus.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position requiring participation in a 24/7 operational roster. The role involves providing critical pilotage services for vessels calling at JCPDI Port, Saudi Aramco facilities, and SPM locations.
