About the Role
Acwa China is seeking a Shift Charge Engineer to oversee overall plant operation activities during their shift in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves ensuring all plant operations are conducted safely and efficiently, adhering to approved Standard Operating Procedures, quality standards, and operational requirements. The Shift Charge Engineer will also be responsible for the safe startup and shutdown of the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations, maintaining full awareness of plant safety hazards.
- Operate the plant according to established standards, minimizing risks to personnel, machinery, and materials, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Coordinate all plant operation activities with other departments during the shift, adhering to safety rules and regulations.
- Understand and apply the permit-to-work system, issuing and canceling permits as authorized.
- Follow operational schedules to achieve targeted production availability safely and efficiently, coordinating changes in plant status with the Operations Manager.
- Make immediate decisions to correct abnormalities or disturbances and take corrective actions during emergencies.
- Supervise startup checklists, interlock checks, protection tests, and non-routine activities such as preservation or acid cleaning.
- Monitor overall plant status, summarize activities in the log book, and complete daily plant status reports.
- Prepare incident/accident reports and other required departmental reports, submitting them within stipulated timeframes.
- Assist in the training and familiarization of new personnel within the shift.
- Study and propose modifications to improve plant efficiency.
- Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessments are conducted, controlled, and updated.
- Implement, monitor, and report on Integrated Management System (IMS) objectives, targets, and programs.
- Report deviations in the IMS, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure regulatory compliance within the scope of activities.
- Identify competency gaps for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions, including providing on-the-job training and evaluating performance.
- Identify, document, and control hazards in the assigned work area.
- Control emergencies, incidents, and near misses.
- Communicate with the Load Dispatch Center.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in plant operations.
- Familiarity with plant O&M agreements, P&IDs, SOPs, Work Instructions, Operation and control logics, emergency operation procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of permit-to-work systems.
Work Environment
This role requires readiness to work in a remote location.
