Job Description
About the Role
ARASCO is seeking a Shift Engineer to manage shift operations and staff within the Corn Intake, Corn Cleaning, Steeping & Wet Mill departments. This full-time role involves ensuring smooth production processes, adherence to product specifications, and the achievement of sales order targets and deadlines. The Shift Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with Food Safety (FSMS) and Health & Safety Procedures among all staff. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper handover procedures between shifts.
- Oversee that all process and maintenance activities are conducted safely, utilizing SAP and the safe work permit system.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and hygiene within the plant.
- Monitor production to ensure quality and quantity targets are met.
- Calculate and report production quantities and critical lab parameters at the end of each shift.
- Verify that operators perform their duties correctly and complete process log sheets on time.
- Collect and report daily production figures, including grinding, starch, and oil production.
- Ensure operator checklists are completed accurately.
- Report incidents, unsafe actions, and conditions through the Q-pulse system.
- Lead plant start-up and shut-down procedures.
Internal and External Relationships
The Shift Engineer will collaborate internally with Wet Mill Engineers and Operators, the QAD team, Warehouse and Refinery personnel, Utility, HSSE, and Maintenance departments. External interactions will include Logistics and Feeds Silos.
Work Environment
This role operates within a continuous process environment, which may involve work pressure. The work setting can be hot and noisy, with potential exposure to confined spaces, heat stress, cold stress, and chemical handling. Other considerations include dust explosion risks, slip hazards, high steam pressure, rotating equipment, and working at height.
Key Considerations
A strong emphasis on safety is paramount, encompassing both personal safety practices and the implementation of safety protocols. The role also involves managing food safety risks and addressing potential hazards related to both personnel and machinery.
