About the Director of Group Sales Role

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, *** is seeking a Director of Group Sales for its property in Riyadh. This full-time position requires a leader to manage and drive the property's group sales efforts, focusing on achieving revenue goals and ensuring guest satisfaction. The role involves building long-term customer relationships and maximizing revenue opportunities through effective sales strategies and accurate forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Group Sales will lead the property's group sales initiatives, particularly for properties with a significant volume of events exceeding 300 peak rooms. This includes managing both reactive and proactive group sales activities, developing and implementing sales and marketing plans, and overseeing the execution of group sales promotions. A key aspect of the role is ensuring a seamless transition from sales to operations and back, while consistently delivering high service standards. The position also involves monitoring and resolving guest issues arising from the sales process and maintaining accountability for the team's success in maximizing group revenue through up-selling and accurate revenue forecasting for catering and group rooms.

Sales Management and Relationship Building

Responsibilities include soliciting and booking local group business, recommending booking goals for sales team members, and managing group sales revenue and operational budgets, including providing forecasting reports. The role requires collaboration with off-property sales channels to ensure property needs are met and sales efforts are complementary. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, sales and kitchen staff, vendors, competitors, the local community, catering associations, and other hotel departments is crucial for guest satisfaction. The Director will also focus on understanding the hotel's target customer and their service expectations to offer tailored business solutions and foster loyalty.

Leadership and Team Development

This leadership role involves directing the on-property group sales effort to achieve hotel revenue goals by targeting high-value accounts and implementing effective sales deployment strategies. The Director will work with the Director of Sales and Marketing to establish and implement sales strategies. A significant part of the role is partnering with Human Resources to attract, develop, and retain talent, creating effective structures, processes, and performance management systems. This includes setting goals for direct reports, managing performance, and forecasting talent needs to minimize turnover. The Director will also identify, train, and mentor group sales associates, and transfer functional knowledge to develop their skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, coupled with 4 years of experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area. Alternatively, a 4-year bachelor's degree in a similar field with 2 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Preferred qualifications include a 4-year college degree, demonstrated supervisory skills, and specific experience in group sales. The required experience level for this role is between 5-10 years.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
