About the Pastry Chef Role

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Pastry Chef to join its team at Fairmont Ramla Riyadh. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, within the Riyadh Region. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for the creation and preparation of a wide range of baked goods, desserts, and pastries, contributing to the exceptional dining experiences offered by the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and prepare a variety of baked goods, desserts, and pastries, ensuring high-quality presentation and taste.
  • Design new recipes and innovate seasonal and themed dessert offerings.
  • Oversee pastry kitchen operations, including inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Lead and train pastry staff, fostering improved communication and productivity.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen departments to maintain correct preparation and delivery times.
  • Monitor seasonings, portion sizes, and the visual appeal of all pastry items.
  • Assist in managing budgetary and payroll expenses for the pastry department.
  • Ensure readiness and prioritize tasks in response to changing operational demands.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for pastry staff.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of experience in pastry arts, with proven leadership experience supervising pastry teams in a high-volume hospitality environment. Advanced technical expertise in baking science and contemporary pastry techniques is required. A formal culinary qualification in pastry arts or equivalent professional training is necessary. Food Safety and Hygiene certification is also required.

  • Experience with pastry-specific software and kitchen management systems.
  • Familiarity with halal food preparation standards.
  • Artistic and creative presentation skills with attention to detail.
