Risk Manager, Riyadh

Currie & Brown is seeking a Risk Manager to join a dedicated team being established for one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent clients. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and involves being fully seconded into the client organization to build and manage their risk management function.

About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing a robust risk management framework within the client's operations. This involves establishing comprehensive systems and processes to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks across various projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with project delivery objectives and governance frameworks.

Core Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and continuously update a centralized, auditable risk register within the designated PMIS or Employer-approved risk management tool/platform, ensuring full traceability, version control, and alignment with the project’s risk governance framework.
  • Plan, facilitate, and document structured risk identification and assessment workshops with Employer representatives, project teams, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders. Apply recognized qualitative and quantitative methods to prioritize risks and define effective mitigation strategies.
  • Lead or support the development, implementation, and monitoring of risk response plans, ensuring each risk has clearly assigned owners, defined mitigation actions, timelines, residual risk evaluations, and performance indicators.
  • Track, monitor, and report on risk performance through periodic risk reviews, updates to the risk register, action trackers, mitigation progress assessment, key risk indicators (KRIs), and escalation of critical or overdue items.
  • Prepare and deliver clear risk trend analysis and periodic reporting highlighting top risks, including mitigation measures undertaken.
  • Support or lead quantitative schedule risk analysis (QSRA) workshops when requested, utilizing risk analysis applications to calculate project timely completion probability and compile reports.
  • Conduct regular risk register reviews and updates at key project milestones, incorporating lessons learned.
  • Promote a proactive risk culture through training, awareness sessions, and best-practice guidance for project teams and vendors.

Required Experience

Candidates should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in risk management, ideally within large-scale projects or client-facing roles. A proven track record in establishing and managing risk registers, facilitating risk workshops, and developing mitigation strategies is essential.

Work Setting

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role requires full secondment into the client organization, working directly within their operational structure to integrate risk management practices effectively.
