About the Role

The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Senior Testing & Commissioning Manager with expertise as a Power Plant Controller (PPC) Specialist for a full-time position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is central to ensuring the successful integration and operation of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

Role Context and Responsibilities

As the final functional integrator of the power plant, the PPC Specialist will lead the configuration, testing, commissioning, and validation of plant-level control systems. This involves ensuring the coordinated operation of solar PV, wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), STATCOM, and grid infrastructure, while strictly adhering to grid codes and utility dispatch requirements. The position requires a strong understanding of renewable hybrid plants and their integration with the grid.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing PPC control philosophies, signal lists, and functional design documents.
• Validating compliance with local and international grid codes and Automatic Generation Control (AGC) requirements.
• Configuring PPC control modes, priorities, and operating setpoints.
• Integrating the PPC with solar inverters, wind turbine generators, BESS and EMS systems, STATCOM systems, and SCADA and substation controls.
• Executing open-loop and closed-loop testing.
• Validating active and reactive power control, ramp rate control, curtailment, and dispatch functions.
• Conducting AGC and grid acceptance testing with utilities.
• Troubleshooting unstable control behavior, communication delays, and generation allocation issues.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Power, or Control Engineering. A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience is required, with at least 8 years specifically in commissioning PPC or plant-level control systems. Expertise in communication protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 104, and Modbus is essential, alongside proven experience with AGC and grid-code compliance testing.

Essential Skills

The role demands strong analytical and systems-thinking capabilities to effectively manage complex control systems and troubleshoot issues. A deep understanding of renewable hybrid plants and grid integration principles is fundamental to success in this position.
