About the Role

HyperThink Systems is seeking an experienced Drilling Expert (Upstream AI) for a contract position. This role focuses on integrating traditional petroleum engineering expertise with advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies to enhance upstream drilling operations.

Role Objectives

The primary objective of this role is to optimize drilling processes, minimize Non-Productive Time (NPT), improve safety standards, and drive digital transformation initiatives within upstream operations. The expert will be instrumental in bridging the gap between operational needs and technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy AI/ML models into live drilling operations.
• Reduce NPT through the application of predictive analytics and automated hazard detection.
• Structure and manage real-time drilling, mud logging, and telemetry data.
• Design intelligent workflows to support drilling automation and downhole steering.
• Evaluate AI vendors, cloud platforms, and relevant drilling technology solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with drilling engineers, field teams, and data scientists.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience with AI/ML applications in drilling operations.
• Background in Drilling Automation or Digital Oilfield initiatives.
• Possession of IWCF/IADC Well Control Certification.
• Experience working with global oil & gas operators or service companies.
