About the Senior Storage Engineer Role

DeepSource is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer for a 6-month full-time engagement in Riyadh, KSA. This role focuses on leading operational, testing, and documentation activities for enterprise storage and networking infrastructure, with a specific emphasis on Dell EMC PowerFlex, Dell EMC PowerMax (PMAX), and Dell Switches.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Storage Engineer will be responsible for a range of hands-on tasks and documentation efforts:

• Performing day-to-day operational tasks on Dell EMC PowerFlex, PowerMax, and Dell Switches.
• Creating and maintaining technical diagrams and documentation using Visio.
• Managing snapshot copies, including creation and restoration.
• Simulating port and path failures to validate host multipathing behavior.
• Testing single power supply failure scenarios and validating system resilience.
• Exporting and restoring Unisphere configuration backups.
• Confirming alert visibility and accuracy within the Unisphere dashboard.
• Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various storage operations, including recovery procedures, capacity monitoring, volume management, LUN masking, service level configuration, performance monitoring, patch installation, configuration backups, and log collection.
• Debugging and troubleshooting syslog configuration between PMAX and the client syslog server.
• Documenting LUN-per-port mapping as part of Low-Level Design (LLD) deliverables.
• Reviewing LUN-per-port mapping for Front-End port load balancing.
• Reviewing PMAX ports for errors and performance issues.

Technical Focus and Testing

A significant aspect of this role involves rigorous testing and validation to ensure system integrity and performance. This includes simulating various failure scenarios, such as cable removals for port/path failures and power supply failures, to confirm system resilience and accurate alert reporting. The engineer will also be responsible for validating host multipathing behavior under these conditions.

Documentation and Design Standards

High-quality technical documentation is a critical component of this position. The engineer will be expected to produce and maintain comprehensive documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs). This involves detailed LUN-per-port mapping and reviews to ensure optimal load balancing and performance across storage interfaces.

Infrastructure Expertise

This role requires hands-on expertise with specific enterprise storage and networking technologies. The primary focus will be on Dell EMC PowerFlex and Dell EMC PowerMax (PMAX) storage arrays, alongside Dell Switches. Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting these systems, including their associated management interfaces like Unisphere, is essential.
