BIM Lead

About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a BIM Lead to join their team in Al Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is responsible for implementing BIM processes to support project delivery and manage the cross-functional collaboration environment, ensuring compliance with the Project BIM Execution Plan (BEP).

Project Context

Bechtel has managed the Jubail project since the mid-1970s, a significant civil engineering undertaking that continues to expand. Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (SABCO) serves as the Management Services Contractor (MSC) for the Royal Commission (RC), overseeing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) management. The renewed contract, extending to June 2026, focuses on developing new residential communities, iconic buildings, infrastructure, and various public facilities in Jubail and Ras Al-Khair Industrial Cities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review project BIM strategy, requirements, and BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
• Ensure coordination of BIM activities, including coordinate systems, standard templates, clash management, and design review, among design subcontractors.
• Provide BIM production support, maintaining the Common Data Environment (CDE), model federation, interference management, quality checking, and deliverable generation.
• Develop, enhance, and institutionalize standardized BIM workflows for project stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Develop and enhance standard processes for BIM/3D model health checks against project requirements.
• Maintain project Exchange Information Requirements for flow-down to the supply chain.
• Train the project delivery team on the CDE (ProjectWise) and associated BIM workflows.
• Develop standard workflows for interoperability between BIM/CAD and GIS to support construction, safety, sustainability, and permitting processes.
• Conduct regular assessments to review BEP implementation, capture lessons learned, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Serve as a liaison between the Royal Commission, delivery team, and IT for BIM-related issue resolution.
• Perform and manage work in accordance with relevant Project Procedures and information requirements (EIR/AIR/PIR).
• Create standard processes for model-based design quantity take-offs and enable construction quantity reporting and forecasting.
• Support design and construction reviews, coordination, and manage issue/action logs.
• Visit job sites to facilitate BIM discussions and execution.
• Provide operational support to BIM coordinators, including BIM Leads at third-party engineering consultants, design firms, and subcontractors.
• Participate regularly with the off-project functional BIM team for training, development, knowledge sharing, and lessons learned.
• Develop processes to integrate BIM/3D models with schedules for 4D construction sequence simulation.
• Develop processes to integrate BIM/3D models and Quantity Take-off Templates for construction progress tracking and reporting.
• Ensure the project meets information requirements and industry standards (*, ISO19650).
• Capture lessons learned and manage the implementation of improved workflows.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant experience.

• Ability to work effectively within a multi-cultural, integrated RC/Bechtel team environment.

This is a full-time position based in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, working within an integrated team environment focused on large-scale civil engineering and construction projects.
