Job Description

About the Cook II Role

Courtyard by Marriott is seeking a dedicated Cook II to join our culinary team in Al Jubail, Eastern region. This full-time position is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to established recipes and quality standards, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment, and contributing to overall team success.

Core Culinary Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and proper storage of food items.
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables as required.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes.
  • Cook and prepare food in adherence to recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and food preparation checklists.
  • Prepare cold food items as needed.
  • Operate various kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely and efficiently.
  • Test foods to ensure they are cooked to the appropriate doneness and monitor food quality throughout the preparation process.
  • Set up and break down the assigned work station, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Serve food in proper portions using appropriate receptacles.

Kitchen Operations and Safety Standards

  • Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment regularly.
  • Check and ensure the correctness of appliance and food temperatures.
  • Adhere to all company, safety, and security policies and procedures.
  • Report any maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to the manager promptly.
  • Complete all required safety training and certifications.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.

Team Collaboration and Professional Conduct

  • Communicate with colleagues using clear and professional language.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all team members.
  • Support the team in achieving common goals and objectives.
  • Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to quality expectations and standards across all tasks.

Physical Demands of the Role

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or for an entire work shift.
  • Capability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or *** equivalent.
  • Related Work Experience: At least 1 year of related work experience in a culinary setting.
  • Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience is required for this position.
  • License or Certification: None specified.
