About Chevron Phillips Chemical Company and the Role

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, in partnership with Saudi Industrial Investment Group (SIIG), operates several joint ventures in the industrial city of Al Jubayl, Saudi Arabia. These include Saudi Chevron Phillips Company (SCP) and Jubail Chevron Phillips Company (JCP), managed through Arabian Chevron Phillips Petrochemical Company (ACP). A third venture, Saudi Polymers Company (SPCo), is jointly owned by ACP and National Petrochemical Company (Petrochem). We are seeking a Process Control Engineer to join our team in Al Jubayl for a full-time position.

Role Purpose and Contribution

The Process Control Engineer is responsible for improving, developing, and implementing control strategies. This role directly contributes to enhancing plant safety, profitability, efficiency, and overall operability within the facilities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Engage in plant Process Safety Management (PSM) by participating in the Management of Change process, including hazard reviews, HAZOP and LOPA studies, action item follow-up, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Evaluate new process schemes and designs for merit and feasibility.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in plant process control strategies.
  • Support the implementation and management of Advanced Process Control applications.
  • Implement control system changes for managed changes and small projects.
  • Provide support for Safety Instrumented System and instrumented independent protection layer lifecycle management, including proof testing.
  • Create instructions and provide training for Operations, I&E Maintenance, and Technical personnel on control subjects as needed.
  • Provide control engineering support for both planned and unplanned shutdowns and unit turnarounds.
  • Perform daily support activities for operations, including reviewing bypass permits, installing permits where applicable, and participating in issue investigations.

Control System Management and Support

  • Troubleshoot issues with control systems and implement/support resolutions.
  • Monitor control systems and supporting applications, executing preventative maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
  • Support Alarm Documentation and Rationalization (AOA) activities.
  • Responsible for instrumentation device, sizing & selection of control valve and measurement devices.
  • Responsible for control loop performance and tuning, including sensors, controllers, and final elements troubleshooting.
  • Support site in control system off-hour call-out duties as needed.

Required Experience

Candidates for this full-time Process Control Engineer position should possess 2 to 5 years of experience.
