About the Role

Marriott International is seeking a First Commis Pastry to join their team in Al Khobar. This full-time position involves preparing a variety of baked goods and pastries, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The role requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare breads and pastries, including doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating.
• Review production sheets to understand daily baked goods requirements.
• Cook and prepare food according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
• Maintain kitchen logs for food safety program compliance and report excess food items to the Chef.
• Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances.
• Ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene.
• Check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management.
• Monitor the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout the shift.

Team Leadership and Support

• Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
• Serve as a role model and mentor within the department.

Operational Compliance and Standards

• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management and complete required safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
• Communicate professionally and clearly with others, including answering telephones appropriately.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships and support team goals, handling sensitive issues with tact and respect.
• Comply with all quality expectations and standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Navigate sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
