About the Role

DP WORLD is seeking a Port Captain to join their team in KSA. This full-time position requires 2-5 years of experience and involves overseeing vessel operations, crew management, and adherence to safety and operational standards. The role is based in the Eastern Region, covering cities such as Dammam, Al Khobar, Dhahran, Al Jubail, Al-Ahsa, Al Qatif, Ras Tannurah, Buqayq, and Al Khafji.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage vessel budgets for food provisions and housekeeping purchases.
• Maintain positive communication between vessel and office staff, promoting the safety and well-being of seafaring personnel.
• Conduct technical interviews for deck officer candidates and select suitable crew.
• Brief Masters, Officers, and crew on their roles, responsibilities, and company expectations before assignments.
• Liaise with the Personnel Department regarding travel, crew changes, and other personnel issues, monitoring crew 'overlap days'.
• Review vessel requisitions to ensure efficient and economical inventory and timely delivery of supplies.
• Monitor the performance of the bridge team and complete regular performance appraisals for Captains.
• Highlight high-potential candidates or underperforming crew to the Fleet Superintendent.
• Ensure all ship staff receive appropriate hand-over and familiarization upon joining.
• Oversee the general wellness and welfare of the crew.
• Conduct monthly on-board inspections of the ship's hull, cargo spaces, deck machinery, and safety equipment.
• Be present on board for offshore operations when special requirements arise.
• Liaise with the Operations Department and Vessel Master regarding certification, safety equipment, and loose lifting gear.
• Prepare vessel repair specifications in collaboration with the Engineering Superintendent/Port Engineer.
• Ensure adherence to IMCA guidelines and best industry practices for vessel DP operations, equipment, and personnel.
• Ensure the fleet's DP and navigational equipment is fully operational at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in port or vessel operations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage vessel budgets and inventory effectively.
• Strong understanding of maritime safety regulations and crew welfare.
• Experience in conducting technical interviews and crew selection.
• Familiarity with IMCA guidelines and DP operations.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in the Eastern Region of KSA, requiring regular on-board presence and travel across various cities including Dammam, Al Khobar, and Al Jubail. The role involves close collaboration with vessel crews, office staff, and various departments to ensure smooth and safe operations.
