The Role of Senior Electrical Designer

As a Senior Electrical Designer based in Al Khobar, Eastern region, you will report to the Lead Electrical and be an integral part of the Engineering team. This full-time position involves managing and supporting a team of 10 individuals, contributing to major projects within the energy and infrastructure sectors. The role requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform technical tasks related to the design, verification, testing, or study of electrical systems in accordance with project requirements, time schedules, and quality standards.
• Ensure correct and timely information exchange with all project stakeholders.
• Implement Saipem operating guidelines within projects.
• Execute activities within the area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements.

Project Lifecycle Tasks

This role encompasses various tasks across the project lifecycle, from bidding to construction and start-up:

1. Bidding Phase/Commercial Proposal Development:
   • Analyze and understand tender technical requirements for electrical systems.
   • Participate in electrical system design reviews.
   • Identify technical queries, deviations, and alternatives for submission.
   • Implement bidding methodologies, design criteria, and guidelines.
   • Define and issue Requests for Quotation for electrical materials not estimated in-house.
   • Prepare material quantities and weights (MTOs) for estimation.
   • Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for erection works cost estimation.
2. Project Execution (Job Progress and Completion):
   • Review client technical documentation and requirements.
   • Participate in defining electrical system plant design requirements.
   • Prepare technical documentation (specifications, data sheets, inspection data sheets) for electrical bulk materials.
   • Check and review technical documentation according to Project and Saipem procedures.
   • Prepare Purchase Requisitions and technical bid evaluations for electrical bulk materials.
   • Perform checks and reviews of vendor technical documentation for electrical bulk materials.
   • Develop electrical system plant design (cable routings, grounding, lighting, and tracing layouts) and substations arrangements in 2D or 3D.
   • Perform power cable sizing.
   • Participate in defining typical installation details and bulk materials selection.
   • Prepare electrical material take-offs (MTOs).
   • Prepare Bill of Quantities for electrical system installation.
   • Participate in 3D modeling plant reviews.
3. Construction and Start-up:
   • Support construction for electrical system installation works and bulk materials management.
   • Assist with engineering adjustments and define modifications when necessary.
   • Review as-built technical documentation.
