Job Description

About the Senior Planning Engineer Role

Wood, a global leader in consulting, engineering, and operations for the energy and materials sectors, is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer. This full-time position is based in Al Khobar, Eastern region, and is crucial for supporting Wood's Projects business. The role focuses on ensuring project schedules are robust, well-managed, and compliant with both company and client standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project schedules that clearly indicate specific milestones agreed upon in the contract.
  • Create and deliver resource-loaded, robust baseline project schedules.
  • Produce all project plans and associated documents, including "S" curves, Histograms, and tabulated man-hour/progress data.
  • Prepare required weekly and monthly progress reports for the project.
  • Provide comprehensive analysis of progress and schedule performance, including productivity and critical path.
  • Furnish the Project Team with relevant planning and reporting information.
  • Ensure that all services and deliverables conform to Company, Client, and Project QA Plan, policies, requirements, and standards.
  • Periodically update schedules to incorporate scope changes, latest progress, and delivery information.
  • Assist with the development of change notifications by highlighting impacts on the schedule and support related tracking and re-baselining efforts.
  • Obtain deliverables and drawing lists and updates from various disciplines, then distribute compiled reports.
  • Ensure that the project team is, at all times, fully aware of project targets.
  • Provide forecasts for recovery to the plan where required.
  • Promote good working relationships within the Project Controls Teams, other project departments, and client representatives.
  • Ensure all planning work is carried out in compliance with Corporate and Project-specific procedures.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Engineering is a mandatory requirement.
  • Minimum of 10 years of overall relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience within a similar Engineering Company environment.
  • Demonstrated practical applied experience in planning and scheduling.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Experienced user of Primavera P6.
  • Ability to create and manage EPC project schedules effectively.
  • Knowledge of ARAMCO standards and procedures.
  • Expertise in SAEP-331 standards.
  • Ability to prepare and update Level II/III resource-loaded schedules.
  • Understanding and application of planning theory, process, and best practices.
  • Capable of the development and maintenance of performance targets.
  • Expertise in project controls and planning tools.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and databases.
