Sr. Materials and Corrosion Engineer (Offshore)

About the Role

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Materials and Corrosion Engineer to join the Offshore team in Al Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is critical for ensuring asset integrity and longevity through specialized expertise in materials selection, corrosion prevention, and assessment. The role requires a strong technical foundation to guide decision-making and ensure compliance with Aramco and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Brownfield and Greenfield Offshore Projects, acting as a technical focal point for all aspects of materials engineering, and managing project bids, execution, resources, and deliverables.
• Develop Corrosion Management Programs, Material Selection Reports, Material Selection Diagrams, Coating Selection Diagrams, and Corrosion Loop Diagrams.
• Carry out corrosion assessments on pipelines, piping, and equipment, with a preference for software experience with ECE-5.
• Conduct Non-metallic Material Studies, including the development of non-metallic material assessments and material selection of appropriate non-metallic material.
• Provide technical support for disciplines and project-related tasks and workshops, including OSI, RBI, and Corrosion Inspection Manuals for operating assets and new projects.
• Develop and resolve Technical Queries, review and approve materials substitutions, and resolve site fabrication issues.
• Lead engineering assessments based on applicable codes such as API 579, BS DNV RP F101, ASME ******, ISO 15156, ISO 21457.
• Review Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs) and Non-Material Requirements (NMRs), primarily related to the materials scope.
• Review integrity assessment reports, which may include ILI reports, Fitness for Purpose (FFP) / Recommendations for Repair Reports (RRR), ILI raw data, and Direct Assessment reports as primary input.
• Assist in the training and development of junior team members.
• Liaise with global offices for support where needed.
• Conduct site visits outside offices as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in materials and corrosion engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise in materials selection, corrosion prevention, and assessment.
• Proficiency in relevant industry standards and codes, including API 579, BS DNV RP F101, ASME ******, ISO 15156, and ISO 21457.
• Experience with Aramco standards is required.

Technical Skills

• Strong technical foundation in materials engineering and corrosion management.
• Ability to develop and implement corrosion management programs and material selection documentation.
• Experience with corrosion assessment software, preferably ECE-5.
• Capability to conduct non-metallic material studies and assessments.

Work Environment

This role is based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and is part of the Offshore team. The position may require site visits outside the office as needed.
