About KBR and the Role

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Materials and Corrosion Engineer to join its team in Al Khobar, located in the Eastern region. This full-time position is central to ensuring the integrity and longevity of assets through specialized expertise in materials selection, corrosion prevention, and assessment. The role involves working within a dynamic environment, applying industry best practices and standards.

Core Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake a range of critical duties focused on materials and corrosion engineering, including:

  • Familiarization with relevant international and Saudi Aramco Best Practices, engineering standards, and procedures.
  • Carrying out corrosion assessments on pipelines, piping, and equipment, with a preference for software experience.
  • Developing Corrosion Management Program (CMP) Reports, Material Selection Reports, Material Selection Diagrams, Coating Selection Diagrams, and Corrosion Loop Diagrams.
  • Providing technical support for project-related tasks, including RBI and Corrosion Inspection Manuals for operating assets and new projects, and On-Stream Inspection (OSI) diagrams.
  • Leading engineering assessments based on applicable codes such as API 579, BS 7910, ASME B31G, and DNV RP F101.

Technical Assessments and Reporting

This role requires a strong technical foundation to guide decision-making and ensure compliance with industry standards. Key tasks include:

  • Providing guidance for performing corrosion calculations and interpreting metallurgical codes and standards, including their implications on detailed design.
  • Reviewing Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs) and Non-Material Requirements (NMRs), primarily related to the materials scope.
  • Reviewing integrity assessment reports, which may include ILI reports, Fitness for Purpose (FFP) / Recommendations for Repair Reports (RRR), ILI raw data, and Direct Assessment reports as primary input.

Collaboration and Mentorship

The Sr. Materials and Corrosion Engineer will engage with various stakeholders and contribute to team development:

  • Coordinating technical issues with other engineering disciplines as required.
  • Providing necessary inputs and data to other disciplines as per requirements and procedures.
  • Interfacing with client representatives as required for resolving any technical issues.
  • Assisting in the training and development of junior team members.
  • Liaising with global offices for support where needed, expecting convergence with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Conducting site visits outside offices as and when required.

Required Professional Experience

Candidates for this position should demonstrate a solid background in materials and corrosion engineering, with practical experience in relevant industry settings.

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in a related field is required.
