About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Active Network & Special Airport Systems Lead to join our team in Dammam. This full-time position requires a professional with over 10 years of experience in delivering complex airport systems.

Role Overview

This role is responsible for the technical oversight, delivery, assurance, and performance of active Special Airport Systems (SAS) technologies. This includes ensuring the seamless integration, testing, and operational readiness of surveillance systems, access control, networking, communications, and other critical airport operational systems. The position requires close collaboration with passive infrastructure, ICT, and airport operations stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with aviation regulations and cybersecurity protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end technical leadership for active SAS technologies, from design through to final delivery.
• Ensure all active systems meet aviation regulations, client standards, and defined performance, resilience, and availability requirements.
• Implement cybersecurity-by-design principles and ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity protocols across all active SAS technologies.
• Plan and manage system integration, defining, testing, and validating interfaces between active systems, ICT platforms, and airport operational frameworks.
• Oversee testing and commissioning activities, including Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and Integrated Testing, managing readiness reviews and defect resolution.
• Ensure system-wide interoperability and coordinated activation across multiple vendors and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with the Passive Engineer to ensure end-to-end system performance and installation readiness.
• Support project leadership by monitoring progress, identifying risks and issues, and providing mitigation plans.
• Manage technical queries (RFIs) and change impacts to protect programme milestones and operational outcomes.
• Ensure high-quality handover documentation, including test evidence, configuration baselines, and as-built records.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in delivering active airport systems, SAS, ICT, or security systems within complex aviation or critical environments.
• Strong understanding of active technologies including surveillance, access control systems (ACS), communications, and networking.
• Demonstrated experience in leading systems integration, multi-vendor delivery, and managing large stakeholder groups.
• Proven experience in testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and operational readiness.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles applicable to airport systems and operational technology.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
