About the Operations Leader Role

Amazon is seeking an experienced Operations Leader to launch and scale its Ultra Fast Groceries service in Dammam. This role is part of a newly formed organization focused on designing and launching new business models across the AMET region. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operations management and a strong ability to drive complex projects from inception through to sustained operations.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Operations Leader will be responsible for Fulfillment Operations and various cross-functional start-up activities. This includes championing, challenging, and approving network standards, executing pre-launch tasks, and ensuring results are achieved during the launch phase until the service reaches a sustained operational state. Post-launch, the role transitions to leading the Fulfillment Center/Store Operations organization across multiple sites and countries, managing a team of Area Managers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Analyzing and implementing corrective actions to ensure consistently high levels of quality, productivity, and service level agreements (SLAs), meeting business objectives across all shifts.
  • Supporting and leading a team, managing administrative tasks, and building a strong team culture.
  • Analyzing performance data and suggesting process improvements to optimize operations and enhance customer service.
  • Collaborating with other managers to standardize shift processes.

Project Leadership and Collaboration

This role requires a self-starter comfortable leading large, complex facility projects with a hands-on approach. Strong project management skills and effective communication are essential. The successful candidate will interface with and drive various functional teams, including finance, business, HR, operations, real estate, projects, and procurement, at all organizational levels. An open mind, ambition, and the ability to navigate ambiguity are crucial for innovation within the company culture.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in employee and performance management.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or a minimum of 2 years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques.
