About the Area Manager, Amazon Now Role
Amazon is seeking an experienced Area Manager for its Amazon Now ultra-fast grocery service. This full-time position is based in Dammam and focuses on launching and scaling new business models within the AMET region. The role requires a candidate with 2-5 years of experience who can lead complex operational initiatives and drive results in a rapidly evolving environment.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Area Manager will be instrumental in the launch and growth of the Ultra Fast service. This includes overseeing Fulfillment Operations and other critical start-up activities. Key responsibilities involve championing, challenging, and approving network standards, executing pre-launch tasks, and ensuring performance targets are met from launch through the sustained phase. The role demands a proactive approach to managing large, complex facility projects, strong project management capabilities, and effective communication skills.
Post-Launch Leadership
Following the successful launch, the Area Manager will transition from a project management focus to leading the Fulfillment Center/Store Operations organization across multiple sites and potentially countries. This leadership will involve managing a team of Area Managers, ensuring operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Operational Duties
- Promote a culture of safety and well-being within the operations.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement corrective actions to ensure consistently high levels of quality, productivity, and service level agreements (SLAs), meeting business objectives across all shifts.
- Support and lead a team, managing administrative tasks while fostering a strong team culture.
- Analyze operational performance and propose process improvements to optimize workflows and enhance customer service.
- Collaborate with other managers to standardize shift processes and best practices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, candidates must be comfortable interfacing with and driving various functional teams, including finance, business, HR, operations, real estate, projects, and procurement, at all organizational levels. Essential attributes include an open mind, ambition, and the ability to navigate ambiguity to remain innovative. A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience is required.
Work Environment and Location
This is a full-time position located in Dammam. The role involves hands-on project management and leadership within a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment. The successful candidate will be a self-starter capable of leading large, complex facility projects.
