About the Role: Lead Technical Application Engineer

GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Technical Application Engineer to join its team in Dammam, Eastern, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is central to business development and technical support for Grid Automation (GA) market products across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and other countries within the MENAT region. The role involves close coordination with GE sales, engineering, and services teams, reporting directly to the GA TAE Leader MENAT.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive technical marketing initiatives and identify new opportunities based on installed base and market intelligence.
  • Provide Level 2 technical support to clients, addressing technical queries, developing customized solutions, supporting scheme engineering, and analyzing field performance.
  • Lead product launches, presentations, discussions, spec-in activities, exhibitions, and site trials through marketing efforts, ensuring product approvals align with regional strategy.
  • Investigate and resolve product problems and non-quality issues reported by customers, supporting local actions for major resolutions.
  • Support the tendering team by studying customer technical and commercial requirements and assisting management during contract negotiations.
  • Enhance awareness of GA solutions, gather competitor data, track market share and volume, and monitor evolving customer specifications.
  • Manage product lifecycle aspects, including awareness of obsoletions and new product availability, providing customer support, tracking firmware upgrades, and assisting with product literature needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in commissioning protection products, applications, and/or engineering projects within the Grid Automation field, including site experience.
  • Extensive experience with Protection & Automation products (*, EHV range like UR, SR, 8 Series, MiCOM) and a strong understanding of competitors’ products.
  • Mandatory site testing and commissioning experience for conducting deep analysis, demonstrations, and sample installations.
  • Extensive experience in Utilities, Industrial, and Oil & Gas Applications (motors, generators, feeders, transformers, ATS schemes); working experience with O&G is an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on innovative and creative solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in APM, transformer monitoring, and diagnostics used in substations, power plants, industrial plants, and power systems.
  • Professional experience conducting technical sessions/training with EHV/HV Utility customers, Industry and Oil & Gas customers, EPCs, OEMs, and system integrators.
  • Testing and commissioning experience with Industrial automation and Protection.
  • Proactive work style, creativity, and high energy.
  • Participation in International Forums, Conferences, or Working Group committees.

Work Environment and Travel

This role is based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and requires the ability and willingness to travel up to 60% as needed to support regional activities. Relocation assistance will be provided for eligible candidates.
