LAB TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST GENETICS

About the Role

Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is seeking a LAB TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST - GENETICS to join their team in Dhahran. This full-time role involves performing and supervising diagnostic genetic testing, ensuring quality assurance, and supporting laboratory development. The specialist will also assist in the interpretation and reporting of genetic results, adhering to hospital policies and national/international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform various molecular testing procedures, including PCR, NGS, FISH, RT-PCR, and Karyotyping.
• Identify and address problems that may negatively affect test performance or result reporting, escalating to the Molecular Genetics Consultant or Chief Technologist as needed.
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
• Maintain the confidentiality of patient files and individual logs.
• Analyze complex problems, review relevant information, and develop solutions.
• Document quality assurance, controls, maintenance logs, and results within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Ensure data integrity and equipment functionality through calibration, cleaning, part changes, and running control samples for quality control.
• Comply with all safety, quality control, and accreditation agency requirements (CAP, CBAHI, JCI).

Experience Requirements

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a genetics laboratory setting. This experience should encompass a strong background in diagnostic genetic testing and laboratory operations.

Work Environment and Location

This is a full-time position based in Dhahran. The role operates within a clinical laboratory environment, requiring adherence to strict quality and safety protocols.

Reporting and Compliance

The specialist will be responsible for accurate interpretation and reporting of genetic results, ensuring full compliance with JHAH hospital policies and relevant national and international standards. This includes maintaining meticulous documentation and adhering to all regulatory guidelines.
