Role Overview

The Catalogue / Merchandising Consultant will be instrumental in shaping how Salla merchants manage their product data, taxonomy, and digital content. This involves creating robust catalogue systems that are both structured and highly merchant-friendly, impacting thousands of SKUs across diverse categories and markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Redefine product data structures by evaluating current merchant practices for creating, categorizing, and enriching product data, then designing smarter, scalable structures for thousands of SKUs across categories.
  • Establish taxonomy frameworks by defining and maintaining taxonomy, metadata, and data governance frameworks to support multi-language catalogues (Arabic/English) and multiple markets (GCC, International).
  • Collaborate across product, engineering, and UX teams responsible for Imports, Checkout, and Discovery to enhance product import flows, attribute management, and localization logic.
  • Develop attribute and classification templates by creating adaptive attribute templates and product schemas tailored to specific merchant types (*, fashion, beauty, electronics), ensuring that each category captures only relevant information.
  • Ensure data quality by setting and enforcing standards for product data completeness, consistency, and SEO alignment to maximize discoverability across store search, marketplaces, and external channels.
  • Lead PIM/MDM implementations, guiding system testing, integration, and data validation for catalogue synchronizations, bulk imports, and migration workflows from external platforms.
  • Optimize product discovery by defining which product attributes function as filters and analyzing their impact on conversion rates, relevance, and recommendation quality.
  • Support merchant tooling development by collaborating on the design of new catalogue management tools, AI enrichment features, and merchant onboarding experiences related to product setup.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in catalogue management, merchandising, or product information management. A strong understanding of product data, taxonomy, and digital content systems is required.
