About the Catalogue / Merchandising Consultant Role

Salla is seeking a Catalogue / Merchandising Consultant to join their team in Jeddah, Makkah Province. This full-time position focuses on defining and enhancing how merchants manage their product data, taxonomy, and digital content within the Salla platform. The goal is to create structured, scalable, and user-friendly catalogue systems.

Role Objectives and Responsibilities

This role is pivotal in reshaping Salla's merchant product data management. Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating current merchant practices for creating, categorizing, and enriching product data, then designing improved, scalable structures for extensive SKU inventories across various categories.
  • Establishing and maintaining the core taxonomy, metadata, and data governance frameworks to support multi-language (Arabic/English) and international catalogues.
  • Developing adaptive attribute templates and product schemas tailored to different merchant types (*, fashion, beauty, electronics) to ensure category-specific relevance.
  • Defining product attributes that function as filters, influencing conversion rates, product relevance, and recommendation quality to enhance product discovery.
  • Collaborating with product, engineering, and UX teams to refine product import flows, attribute management, and localization logic.
  • Setting standards for product data completeness, consistency, and SEO alignment to ensure high discoverability across various channels.
  • Leading Product Information Management (PIM) / Master Data Management (MDM) implementations, including system testing, integration, and data validation for catalogue synchronization and migration workflows.
  • Supporting the design of new catalogue management tools, AI enrichment features, and merchant onboarding processes for product setup.

Required Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in catalogue or product data management within e-commerce, marketplaces, or ERP environments.
  • Proven experience with Product Information Management (PIM) or Master Data Management (MDM) systems (*, Akeneo, Riversand, Pimcore, Salsify, Informatica).
  • A strong understanding of e-commerce catalog structures, including SKU data, product variants, and attribute hierarchies across diverse product types.
  • Hands-on experience building or optimizing product data models, filters, and classification systems at scale.
  • Knowledge of SEO and content enrichment best practices for improving product visibility and search performance.
  • An analytical mindset capable of identifying catalog inconsistencies and proposing scalable data models.
  • Technical literacy with data exchange formats (CSV, JSON, XML) and system integrations.
  • Experience managing large-scale product data, including tens or hundreds of thousands of SKUs.
  • Familiarity with omnichannel and retail operations, including alignment with POS systems and ERP integrations.

Preferred Skills and Background

Additional advantageous skills and experience include:

  • Fluency in both Arabic and English, particularly for taxonomy and localization validation.
  • Experience with online marketplaces, large retail e-commerce operations, or SaaS product catalog systems.
