The Role of Logistics Specialist

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing import operations, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods. This full-time position is based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and requires 0-1 years of experience. The role involves coordination with government authorities, customs brokers, logistics service providers, and warehouse teams to maintain seamless import processes and adherence to all applicable regulations within a complex logistics ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor import shipment activities, including tracking, cost monitoring, payments, and system registrations.
  • Liaise with government authorities and customs brokers to obtain approvals and resolve clearance issues.
  • Prepare and review customs clearance documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate triangulation invoice requirements and ensure compliance with customs regulations.
  • Support customs exemption applications and maintain related documentation.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams for timely receipt of imported goods.
  • Monitor logistics service providers' performance and escalate operational issues.
  • Track clearance lead times and identify opportunities for operational efficiency improvements.
  • Follow up on empty container returns to avoid detention charges.
  • Ensure compliance with SFDA, SASO, ZATCA Customs, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate shipment, clearance, and compliance records in company systems.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers for smooth end-to-end import operations.
  • Support reporting activities by providing logistics performance data and KPI analysis.
  • Assist in continuous improvement projects for logistics and import operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 0-1 years of experience in logistics, import operations, or a related field.
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor import shipment activities effectively.
  • Understanding of customs clearance documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Capability to liaise with government authorities and external partners.
