Job Description

About Purple Rock IT Solutions

Purple Rock IT Solutions is an IT infrastructure, networking, and systems integration company delivering enterprise IT solutions, managed services, and large-scale event technology deployments across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Our projects range from corporate offices and managed IT environments to international events, exhibitions, sporting venues, and temporary network deployments.

The Role: Network Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to join our team in Makkah, serving clients in Jeddah and Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This is a field-heavy, deployment-focused contract role, requiring 2-5 years of experience. The successful candidate will be comfortable configuring FortiGate firewalls for Managed Service Provider (MSP) clients and deploying complex networks on-site for large events, often under tight timelines and high-pressure conditions. This position is not suitable for purely desk-based, NOC-only, or remote candidates. The monthly salary for this role is SAR 8,000-12,000.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and related network services.
  • Manage routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and wireless environments for MSP clients, performing firmware upgrades, security updates, preventive maintenance, and optimisation activities.
  • Deploy and manage enterprise wireless and wired networks for large-scale events (500-20,000+ users), including exhibitions, sporting events, conferences, and activations.
  • Configure high-density UniFi or equivalent wireless deployments with proper VLAN segmentation and guest isolation.
  • Set up bonded cellular and SD-WAN uplinks using Peplink or equivalent for event connectivity and failover.
  • Monitor bandwidth utilisation and network performance during live events, and provide on-site support during build-up, live operations, and de-rig.
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues for MSP clients, performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent corrective actions.
  • Support network implementation, migration, expansion, and infrastructure upgrade projects, participating in site surveys and wireless heatmap surveys (Ekahau or equivalent).
  • Create and maintain network diagrams using Microsoft Visio, documenting configurations, IP schemes, topology diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Work Environments and Expectations

This role involves working across two distinct environments. For MSP clients, responsibilities include ongoing support, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting for a portfolio of corporate clients. For Event & project deployments, the work involves designing, deploying, operating, and decommissioning temporary network infrastructure for various events. This often occurs under tight timelines and high-pressure conditions, requiring on-site presence during build-up, live operations, and de-rig, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. The ability to troubleshoot network issues calmly and effectively under time-critical, high-visibility conditions is essential.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience as a Network Engineer in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in configuring, deploying, and maintaining FortiGate firewalls.
  • Experience with high-density UniFi or equivalent wireless deployments, including VLAN segmentation and guest isolation.
  • Familiarity with bonded cellular and SD-WAN uplinks, such as Peplink.
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and wireless heatmap surveys (Ekahau or equivalent).
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
  • Ability to work closely with project managers, technical teams, and vendors.

Important Application Information

Candidates must currently be based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a valid residence or employment visa; applications from outside the KSA will not be considered. The monthly salary for this role is SAR 8,000-12,000. If your expectations are significantly above this range, please consider whether this role is right for you before applying.
