Senior Backend Engineer

Salla is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join its team in Jeddah, Makkah Province. This full-time role involves designing and building payment-critical backend services end-to-end on a modern Java stack, with a strong emphasis on correctness, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build payment-critical backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Ensure the correctness and reliability of services under various load conditions.
• Develop robust integrations and event-driven flows.
• Write comprehensive tests and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards.
• Mentor mid-level engineers within the team.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Strong experience in microservices and REST API design, along with relational databases.
• Solid understanding of transactional integrity and system reliability.
• Proficiency with containers, CI/CD pipelines, and robust automated testing practices.
• Active use of AI coding tools, such as Claude Code, in daily development is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Experience Level

Candidates should possess 5-10 years of professional experience in backend engineering, with a focus on payment systems or similarly critical services.
