About the Opportunity

Makkah Medical Center Hospital is seeking a Consultant Nephrology to join its distinguished medical team. This full-time position is based in Mecca, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, focusing on providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for kidney disease and specialized dialysis care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage patients with acute and chronic kidney disease.
  • Oversee the dialysis unit, including both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, and manage patient treatment plans.
  • Provide follow-up care for pre- and post-kidney transplant patients, coordinating effectively with relevant medical teams.
  • Participate actively in medical committees, quality improvement programs, and continuous medical education (CME) activities.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Possession of an MBBS / MD degree from a recognized medical school.
  • Valid Consultant (Internal Medicine – Nephrology) classification and registration from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, complemented by an accredited Nephrology Fellowship.
  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

Required Experience and Clinical Skills

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in Nephrology.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).
  • Competence in vascular access assessment and the insertion of temporary dialysis catheters.
  • Experience in managing pre- and post-transplant patients, including the application of immunosuppression protocols.
  • Experience with kidney biopsy procedures and the interpretation of biopsy results is considered an advantage.

Professional Knowledge and Unit Leadership

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current treatment protocols and international guidelines, such as KDIGO.
  • Ability to lead and develop a dialysis unit, including the implementation of quality indicators and infection control measures.
  • Proficient use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and accurate clinical documentation.
