Director of Revenue Management at Makkah Clock Royal Tower
Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, an iconic 76-story landmark within the Abraj Al Bait Complex in Makkah, is seeking a Director of Revenue Management. This permanent position is crucial for leading the hotel's commercial strategy and ensuring optimal revenue generation across all segments. The hotel, with 1662 guest rooms, stands as a focal point of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project, symbolizing hospitality in the Holy City.
Role Purpose and Strategic Vision
The Director of Revenue Management is responsible for guiding the hotel's Commercial Strategy team in defining its strategic vision. This role involves establishing clear goals and implementing tactical efforts to drive revenue growth across key customer segments and revenue centers, while simultaneously supporting the hotel's brand positioning and image. A core function includes ensuring data quality and analysis, providing actionable intelligence, and recommending effective revenue and e-commerce strategies to both the Commercial Strategy team and other corporate and ownership entities. Additionally, the role ensures inventory allocation and pricing parameters are optimized to support overall revenue goals and maximize profit for all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic vision and hold ultimate accountability for hotel revenue and profitability, assisting in commercial team leadership, mentorship, and final decision-making.
- Lead the strategic planning process and collaborate with all hotel profit generation teams to identify and implement opportunities for incremental profit across Rooms, Restaurants, Spas, and other revenue streams.
- Communicate a compelling Total Hotel Profit Optimization vision to property leaders, fostering a Revenue Management Culture and teaching RM concepts within the hotel.
- Leverage Revenue Management analytics, technologies, processes, tools, and training programs to optimize hotel profits.
- Create short- and long-term forecasts to inform pricing and yielding tactics.
- Drive the annual budget process and produce long-term projections as required.
- Monitor relevant economic, market, and competitive indicators to derive insight-led profit generation strategies.
- Chair weekly Revenue Management Meetings, driving strategic discussions and ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and hotel objectives.
- Maximize room revenue contribution through a thorough understanding of all booking channels and effective management of inventory and rates.
- Optimize pricing, promotions, and availability strategies by defining and managing rates, rate levels, stay restrictions, and other tactics congruent with demand factors to target profitable customer segments.
- Continuously evaluate new business opportunities and optimize performance across all booking channels.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to execute, measure, evaluate, and improve digital marketing efforts.
- Manage performance reviews with OTA/CTO partners, staying informed on distribution options and extranet maintenance to ensure optimal hotel display.
- Serve as the system owner for all core revenue management technologies (RMS, CRS, Rate shopping systems), ensuring data quality, system hygiene, and optimal utilization.
- Maintain relationships with local market competitors to stay informed of trends and news.
- Identify, mentor, and develop revenue management talent, including the Revenue Manager/Assistant DRM and Revenue Analyst, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
Required Experience and Qualifications
Candidates for this role should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in revenue management. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, strategic thinking, and proven leadership skills to effectively manage complex revenue streams and mentor talent within the hotel's commercial team.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This role operates within a dynamic hotel environment. The position requires the ability to maintain focus on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous under various circumstances. Occasional standing, walking, lifting, and carrying items up to 20 lbs may be required. The successful candidate will also perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
