About the Role

Marriott International is seeking an Engineer Technician (Kitchen) to join its team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is designed for candidates with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on critical maintenance and repair operations within the property. The position involves responding to guest repair requests, performing essential preventive maintenance, and diagnosing and repairing complex systems, with a particular emphasis on kitchen equipment. The Engineer Technician will work with a high degree of autonomy to resolve maintenance issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to and address guest repair requests promptly and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with guests and clients to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and conduct visual inspections.
  • Transport equipment such as tools and radios, and identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
  • Maintain a maintenance inventory and order parts and supplies as needed.
  • Ensure daily activities and issues are communicated to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs.
  • Safely perform highly complex repairs to physical property, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration systems, and pool heaters, ensuring compliance with company standards and local/national codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on various types of equipment (*, pump and motor replacement), plumbing (*, unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components (*, lamps, switches, outlets), and other guest room items.
  • Perform On-Call Engineer duties, including readings and rounds, as required.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents or injuries, complete safety training, and properly store flammable materials.
  • Maintain a neat and professional uniform and personal appearance, protect company assets, and maintain property information privacy.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guest service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and ensure compliance with quality expectations.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, support team goals, and communicate professionally.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds ( kg) or less without assistance, and perform tasks involving heavier weights or unassisted movement.
  • Climb stairs, service ramps, or ladders, and reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting at the waist, crawling, and stooping.
  • Enter and locate work-related information using computers.

Technical Aptitude and Skills

  • Demonstrate advanced aptitude in engineering operations and solid aptitude in general mechanics.
  • Possess advanced aptitude in reading basic blueprints and electrical diagrams related to plumbing and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Exhibit good aptitude in at least three, above-average aptitude in two or more, and basic aptitude in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy saving, and general building management.
  • Apply solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required for repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Show advanced knowledge of all engineering software programs related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and other systems.
  • Demonstrate advanced aptitude for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system malfunctions.
  • Possess aptitude for training and guiding other engineers as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or a vocational or technical training degree is preferred.
  • Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electricity, or refrigeration.
  • Experience in inventory management, ordering parts, and exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
  • No supervisory experience is required for this position.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Universal chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.
  • Ability to meet all state and federal requirements for certification or licensing relevant to the role.
