About the Role of Fire Safety Engineer

Eram Talent is seeking a Fire Safety Engineer to join their team in Makkah, with work locations including Jeddah and Makkah. This full-time role involves delivering technical fire and life safety engineering activities, supporting the delegated Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) governance framework. The position requires 5-10 years of experience and focuses on ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

The Fire Safety Engineer will be responsible for a range of technical activities under the direction of the Fire Safety Engineering Lead. These include:

• Conducting fire and life safety engineering reviews, assessments, inspections, and field verifications.
• Reviewing fire safety requirements for new construction, renovations, research facilities, high-hazard areas, and fire protection systems.
• Ensuring compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Fire Code (IFC), KAUST requirements, and Saudi Civil Defense requirements.
• Performing fire risk assessments, system verification, and compliance checks, and recommending corrective actions.
• Reviewing and maintaining fire safety documentation, drawings, test certificates, inspection records, ITM records, and deficiency closure evidence.
• Coordinating with Projects, Facilities, contractors, consultants, Fire & Emergency Services, and other stakeholders to resolve fire safety issues.
• Providing technical assurance for Inspection, Testing & Maintenance (ITM) of fire protection systems and monitoring corrective actions.
• Participating in testing, commissioning, acceptance, and functional verification of fire alarms, suppression systems, smoke control, passive fire protection, fire doors, barriers, and egress systems.
• Supporting investigations of fire incidents, unwanted alarms, system failures, and impairments, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Compliance and Governance

This role supports KAUST's AHJ governance framework by conducting technical reviews, field assessments, inspections, compliance verification, fire risk assessments, and technical investigations within approved KAUST procedures and delegated authorities. The Fire Safety Engineer will prepare technical recommendations for review and approval through the Lead, Fire Safety Engineer and the Health and Safety Manager, as applicable. The role also involves maintaining audit-ready evidence, verifying fire protection system performance, supporting Civil Defense-related documentation and inspections, and escalating significant fire and life safety risks.

Required Experience

Candidates for this position should possess 5-10 years of relevant experience in fire safety engineering. The role requires a strong understanding of fire and life safety engineering principles and their application in various environments.

Regulatory Adherence

The Fire Safety Engineer will ensure compliance with a range of critical standards and requirements, including Saudi Civil Defense requirements, Saudi Building Code (SBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Fire Code (IFC), and KAUST internal requirements.

Work Type and Location
