Position Overview
The Manager, Powertrain Production Operations is responsible for the end-to-end 24/7 production execution within the AMP-2 Powertrain facility, encompassing both Drive Unit and HV Battery assembly shops. This role involves establishing the entire production organization from the ground up in a greenfield facility located in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah. Key responsibilities include recruiting and developing all shift employees, implementing shift routines, and driving performance from initial commissioning through volume ramp-up and beyond SOP. The Manager is accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People, operating through disciplined change control, objective launch evidence, cross-functional problem-solving, and structured technical ownership transfer to the Saudi workforce. This is a full-time position requiring over 10 years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Own 24/7 production execution for Drive Unit and HV Battery assembly shops across all shifts.
- Deliver committed production volume, OEE, FPY, and cost-per-unit targets aligned with the AMP-2 business plan.
- Manage the operational budget, including labor, overtime, consumables, and conversion cost performance.
- Build the production organization, including shift managers, supervisors, team leads, and operators.
- Own Safe Launch, run-at-rate, and capacity verification governance through SOP and volume ramp.
- Chair Launch Readiness Reviews, Layered Process Audits, and Process Confirmation routines.
- Lead QRQC / War Room escalation during launch and ramp-up phases.
- Define, cascade, and govern production KPIs: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and Environment (SQDCPE).
- Lead tiered accountability (Tier 1–3) daily management routines across the Powertrain shop.
- Drive structured problem-solving and QRQC closure for chronic and acute production issues.
- Enforce HV LOTO, HVIL continuity, and mandatory HV PPE for all work on or near EV Powertrain equipment.
- Comply with SASO, Saudi MOL, IEC 60204, and functional safety standards (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061).
- Champion Lucid Production System principles: Standardized Work, Kaizen, VSM, and cost-per-unit reduction.
- Establish a safety-first, quality-focused, high-performance culture across the Powertrain shop.
- Establish the Powertrain operating system, organization design, shift model, span of control, competency architecture, and escalation model for 24/7 Drive Unit and Battery operations.
- Own the annual operating plan, manpower, conversion cost, overtime, consumables, and productivity roadmap.
- Build succession, engagement, performance, and Saudization plans for the full production organization.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience in production operations, preferably within the automotive or a related manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and manage production organizations from scratch in greenfield facilities.
- Experience with launch governance, ramp-up, and capacity verification processes.
- Proficiency in defining, cascading, and governing production KPIs (SQDCPE).
- Knowledge of HV safety protocols, including LOTO, HVIL continuity, and mandatory HV PPE.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as SASO, Saudi MOL, IEC 60204, IATF 1699, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies like Standardized Work, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Ability to build workforce capability through structured OJT, skills matrices, and documented knowledge transfer.
Work Environment
This full-time role is based in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, within a greenfield facility. The position requires managing 24/7 production operations across multiple shifts, emphasizing a safety-first, quality-focused, and high-performance culture.
