The Role: Mechanical Engineer II, Stator/Rotor
Lucid is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II, Stator/Rotor to join its resident product engineering organization within the manufacturing plant in King Abdullah Economic City, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This role requires an individual with 5-10 years of experience who demonstrates a proactive approach, vigor, and determination in their work. The successful candidate will be expected to lead through technical and organizational challenges to deliver results in an ambiguous environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex component and system-level problems using standard problem-solving techniques.
- Conduct data-driven proactive problem-solving, root cause analysis, and issue avoidance related to process deviations or critical part quality issues.
- Develop technical expertise to troubleshoot Stator and Rotor sub-assemblies and their interface with manufacturing processes and associated equipment variables.
- Ensure design intent assembly requirements for Stator and Rotor are met and enforced on the production line, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Establish process flow and implement assembly drawings that cover product specifications relevant to manufacturing.
- Support prototype builds to verify product compatibility against manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Assist with new product launches and execute part concession deviations for E-Motor assembly in the manufacturing plant.
- Support high-volume production ramp activities related to product engineering.
- Advise on build process development and potential improvements for high-volume production lines.
- Lead product change management to address known product compatibility issues for high-volume production or known product design issues, in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Evaluate Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk, control charts, distribution behavior, and correlations between process parameters and product performance.
- Provide plant feedback to product design teams and recommend design changes to improve manufacturability, quality, serviceability, and production robustness.
- Lead technical discussions involving Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supplier Quality, Production, Maintenance, Controls, and Equipment Engineering.
- Provide technical mentoring to technicians, production associates, and less-experienced engineers.
- Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into current improvement plans and future product designs, process standards, and equipment specifications.
Experience and Qualifications
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through technical and organizational challenges.
- Proficiency in problem-solving techniques and data-driven analysis.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and product design for manufacturability.
Compensation and Benefits
Lucid offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays; paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly employees accrue up to 120 hours of paid time off, while salaried employees accrue up to 160 hours. Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program, with awards determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with applicable plan terms. Salary for this position is not disclosed.
