Student Counselor

About the Role

Maarif Education is seeking a Student Counselor to join their team in Makkah, with responsibilities extending to Jeddah. This full-time role involves working with students, parents, and educators to support academic and social success, providing emotional guidance, and assisting students in career planning. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Education Executive Officer and school principal in maintaining high-quality professional practices and ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment for students.
• Evaluate students' abilities and interests through assessments, interviews, and information gathered from teachers, parents, and classmates.
• Identify factors affecting school performance, such as poor classroom attendance rates.
• Provide guidance lessons and counseling to help students understand and overcome social or behavioral challenges.
• Counsel individuals and small groups based on student and school needs.
• Work with students to develop essential skills, including organizational abilities, time management, and effective study habits.
• Help students create plans to achieve their academic and career goals.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success.
• Educate students and school staff on specific topics such as bullying and drug abuse.
• Maintain required records accurately.
• Assist in conflict mediation and resolution among students, or between students and teachers, or parents and teachers, to foster a constructive learning environment.
• Advise students and parents on external resources for additional support.
• Participate in school self-evaluation processes and contribute to the development of school improvement plans.
• Enroll in and actively participate in relevant professional development programs.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social Work.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in any subject matter combined with a postgraduate degree (at least an advanced diploma) in a field related to counseling.

Experience and Work Type

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in student counseling or a related field. This is a full-time position.

Location

This role is based in Makkah, with responsibilities covering both Makkah and Jeddah.
