AC Lead

About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking an AC Lead to join their team in Riyadh for a full-time position. This role involves leading the design and engineering activities for Solar PV Power Plants, specifically focusing on Electrical - AC systems. The AC Lead will be responsible for reviewing and executing engineering tasks, facilitating BIM 3D model development, and coordinating with various departments.

Role Overview

As the Design Lead (Electrical - AC), the individual will be proficient in reviewing and executing engineering activities related to AC Single Line Diagrams (SLD), building layouts, earthing layouts, cable sizing calculations, transformer sizing, and LT/HT breakers for Solar PV Power Plants. The role also involves supporting modellers in developing BIM 3D models for these plants and ensuring inter-departmental checks with Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, and MEP teams. This position covers the full cycle of works, from pre-bid engineering to commissioning and warranty support, including site team assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely delivery of engineering drawings and documents, aligning with project schedules.
• Review drawings, design, and sizing calculations prepared by Design Engineers and Draughts Persons, obtaining client approvals.
• Review vendor deliverables pertaining to engineering specifications.
• Manage multiple tasks and deliver on time.
• Estimate and plan man-hour requirements for projects.
• Review Bill of Quantities (BOQ), submit to the contracts team, and provide technical clarifications.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure inter-departmental checks are completed.
• Provide support and clarifications to the Site Execution team.
• Conduct pre-award technical evaluation of vendors and forward validation documents to Supply Chain Management.
• Inspect equipment from finalized vendors after validation document submission.
• Clarify design and client requirements to the Site Execution Team.
• Collect project details, such as plot information and feeder arrangements, from clients and the Project Engineering Manager.
• Coordinate with the Operations team and communicate design specifications for approval.
• Gather inputs for project details, including General Arrangement Drawings, from vendors.
• Check deliverables such as equipment layouts, cable routing layouts, cable tray layouts, earthing layouts, lighting layouts, and lightning protection layouts.
• Support Electrical DC and Civil/Structural teams in reviewing vendor drawings.
• Submit man-hour requirements for undertaking and reviewing project designs and drawings.

Team Leadership

The AC Lead will be responsible for leading a team of Design Engineers and Draughts Persons. This includes managing engineering activities to ensure they are completed within budget, delivered on time, and maintain a high quality of engineering standards.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, requiring coordination with various internal departments and external vendors to ensure project success.
