Job Description
About Calo and the Fellowship Program
Calo is a company dedicated to making healthy eating accessible through personalized meal plans, developed by chefs, nutritionists, and software engineers. Since its launch in 2019, Calo has expanded its operations across six countries, delivering millions of meals and extending its mission to retail and other sectors. The Calo Fellowship is a one-year, full-time program designed for exceptional early-career talent, offering an opportunity to gain practical experience by solving real business problems. This program emphasizes ownership and learning alongside experienced professionals within the company, with this specific role, the AI Automation Fellow – Supply Chain, based in Riyadh.
The AI Automation Fellow – Supply Chain Role
As an AI Automation Fellow specializing in Supply Chain, you will join Calo's AI & Automation Track. This role focuses on transforming critical aspects of Calo's supply chain operations, which encompass forecasting, inventory, purchasing, and general operations. Your primary mission will be to identify manual and repetitive processes within the supply chain and develop AI-powered solutions to enhance speed, accuracy, and overall efficiency. This involves reimagining existing processes rather than merely maintaining them, with the goal of building systems that become integral to Calo's operational framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify manual and repetitive processes suitable for improvement through AI and automation.
- Design and build practical solutions to streamline day-to-day supply chain operations.
- Develop automation tools for inventory management, purchasing workflows, reporting, and operational planning.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Test, improve, and continuously iterate on developed systems.
- Present work, insights, and outcomes to leadership throughout the Fellowship program.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
Calo seeks individuals who are builders with potential, rather than extensive professional experience. Ideal candidates for this Fellowship will typically meet the following criteria:
- Recently graduated from high school or university.
- Possess little to no professional experience but demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn.
- Enjoy solving problems and identifying more efficient working methods.
- Show curiosity about AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
- Capable of breaking down complex challenges into practical, actionable solutions.
- Learn quickly and are comfortable experimenting with new tools.
- Exhibit a proactive approach, taking ownership of tasks without constant instruction.
- Communicate effectively and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams.
- Committed to quality and continuous improvement in their work.
Desired Mindset and Eligibility
Calo prioritizes mindset in its selection process. Fellows are expected to embody the following attributes:
- Maintain curiosity and a desire for continuous learning.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn rapidly.
- Take full ownership of their work and projects.
- Care deeply about the quality and impact of their contributions.
- Proactively solve problems rather than waiting for direction.
- Adapt comfortably to change and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Support colleagues and celebrate team successes.
- Exhibit humility, resilience, and a genuine commitment to personal and professional growth.
Applications are welcomed from recent high school or university graduates, and candidates with limited to no professional experience. While the Fellowship can be completed in a hybrid setup for applicants based in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia (including Riyadh), the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, or Oman, exceptional candidates from anywhere globally are also encouraged to apply for a remote arrangement. Proficiency in English, Arabic, or bilingualism is accepted.
Application Process
To apply for the Calo Fellowship, please submit your resume along with additional material that showcases your personality and potential. This could include a short video (1-2 minutes) introducing yourself and explaining your interest in the Fellowship, a project you have built or improved (personal, school, or passion project), a portfolio, GitHub profile, or a personal website. Calo values curiosity, the courage to take ownership, and the ambition to build meaningful solutions.
