About the Role

DallahHealth is seeking a dedicated Anesthesia Registrar to join its medical team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves managing patients within delineated clinical privileges, providing the highest level of clinical care and expertise across all phases of anesthesia management. The role encompasses pre-operative assessment, intra-operative care, and post-operative recovery, all performed under the supervision of a consultant and in full compliance with Dallah Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for monitoring and care of patients attending allocated Anesthesia Clinics for preoperative assessment.
  • Administer General Anesthesia for major, moderate, and minor surgeries for both adult and pediatric patients.
  • Provide consultation and administer anesthesia using a full range of anesthesia methods and techniques.
  • Interview patients scheduled for surgery to assess and develop an anesthesia care plan, establish rapport, and alleviate fear and apprehension.
  • See patients post-operatively to evaluate and document recovery from anesthesia, assess complications, and make recommendations as indicated.
  • Stand on-call duty as assigned by the Chief of Anesthesia for emergency surgery, obstetrics, and/or medical procedures.
  • Evaluate patients in the Accident and Emergency Room at the request of A/E Room Physicians.
  • Provide on-call coverage on a rotation basis, requiring physical presence at all times to respond to requests.
  • Write clinical notes related to anesthesia in patients’ medical records as per hospital policy.
  • Participate in patient and family education to help them better understand and engage in their care, making well-informed decisions.

Supervisory and Professional Duties

  • Maintain a high level of professional performance according to Hospital standards.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to Anesthesia technicians and nursing staff, and as required, provide orientation/training in new techniques and procedures.
  • Supervise the work, performance, and efficiency of Anesthesia technicians during duty hours or on-call.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Apply understanding of healthcare contexts and systems to improve and optimize healthcare delivery.
  • Use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care practices.
  • Demonstrate cost-conscious care, including avoiding the overuse and misuse of diagnostic tests and treatment.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, understanding and sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude towards other staff and patients.
  • Develop and coordinate the Quality Improvement Program within the area of responsibility.
  • Keep current with new procedures and techniques in the field of Anesthesia.
  • Perform any other duties within the range of professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Anesthesia or the Chief of Medical Staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Basic Medical Degree from a recognized accredited institution.
  • MSc or equivalent qualification in the specialty of Anesthesiology.
  • Valid SCFHS License in Anesthesiology as a Registrar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience since the acquisition of the essential postgraduate qualification.
